Ch\u00fang \u0111\u01b0\u1ee3c gi\u1ea3i ph\u00f3ng b\u1edfi t\u1ebf b\u00e0o, \u0111\u00f3ng vai tr\u00f2 trung gian trong giao ti\u1ebfp gi\u1eefa c\u00e1c t\u1ebf b\u00e0o, th\u00f4ng qua c\u00e1c th\u00e0nh ph\u1ea7n \u0111a d\u1ea1ng nh\u01b0 RNA, DNA, protein v\u00e0 lipid. T\u00fai ngo\u1ea1i b\u00e0o th\u1ecb gi\u00e1c \u0111\u01b0\u1ee3c xem l\u00e0 d\u1ea5u \u1ea5n sinh h\u1ecdc ti\u1ec1m n\u0103ng v\u00e0 l\u00e0 ph\u01b0\u01a1ng ph\u00e1p kh\u00f4ng d\u00f9ng t\u1ebf b\u00e0o h\u1ed7 tr\u1ee3 y h\u1ecdc t\u00e1i t\u1ea1o, \u0111\u1eb7c bi\u1ec7t tri\u1ec3n v\u1ecdng trong \u0111i\u1ec1u tr\u1ecb c\u00e1c b\u1ec7nh l\u00fd v\u1ec1 m\u1eaft.
