AXP’s battery manual & Maintenance
This document is cited from the AXP System Operator and Maintenance Manual and the AXP AutoXpress Platform Operator and Maintenance Manual (Thermogenesis – USA)
A. BATTERY REPLACEMENT & BATTERY LIFE:
- A rechargeable nickel metal hydride (NiMH) battery pack is integrated into device. Battery pack will enable full operation for up to 400 runs and must be replaced after 400 runs. To alert user to replace battery, XpressTRAK automatically displays the following screen after 360th run (AXP AutoXpress Platform Operator and Maintenance Manual – page 8-21/22)
- Following recommended procedures, the battery pack should allow for 200-300 runs, there should be a spare battery to replace as soon as necessary. (AXP System Operator and Maintenance Manual – page 8-27)
B. PROPER USE OF BATTERY:
- Before first use or after complete discharge of pack, charge pack for a minimum of 12 hours. Complete discharge is indicated if both LEDs are off. (AXP AutoXpress Platform Operator and Maintenance Manual – page 5-3)
- Only use if AXP device is fully charged - battery LED solid green (AXP System Operator and Maintenance Manual – page 9-3)
- Light green or yellow LED indicates an inadequately charged device. Using such a device will result in an incomplete spin. To recharge, place device back into docking station for 30 minutes. When battery LED is solid green, remove device and continue processing. (AXP AutoXpress Platform Operator and Maintenance Manual – page 5-14)
- A completely discharged battery may take up to 3 hours to recharge. (AXP AutoXpress Platform Operator and Maintenance Manual – page 3-7)
- Once processing/plasma bag set is removed from device, device must be placed back into docking station. Processing information will be downloaded to XpressTRAK and device battery pack will begin to recharge (AXP AutoXpress Platform Operator and Maintenance Manual – page 5-43)
C. BATTERY MAINTENANCE: In order to improve AXP battery life, it is important not to overcharge the battery and also to periodically fully discharge the battery. The following recommendations are made in order to increase the life of the batteries in an AXP device:
- Once a charged AXP device is removed from the Docking or Satellite Station, do not place it immediately back into the Docking or Satellite station as this can lead to overcharging of the battery and a shortening of battery life. Instead, leave the AXP device out of the Docking or Satellite Station for at least 45 minutes.
- Completely discharge the AXP device battery at least once a month by removing it from the Docking or Satellite station and placing it in the AXP Device Stand for 12-24 hours or until all LEDs are off. Charge the device for 2 or more hours before use.
