During the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, a customer of Blue-Ray Biotech planned to implement automation solutions for diagnostic laboratories. These included workflows such as viral RNA isolation/extraction and the preparation of COVID-19 diagnostic assays based on Real-Time PCR. The customer requested support from Blue-Ray Biotech to design an optimized method for qPCR assay setup. The following are the solutions proposed by Blue-Ray Biotech.
Recommendations to accelerate qPCR reaction setup for diagnostics
Automated master mix preparation using the EzMate 601s
If users choose to prepare the Master Mix automatically (19 µL Super Mix + 1 µL Enzyme Mix), the EzMate 601s Automated Pipetting System can process up to 50 reactions per run (equivalent to 2 plates of a Real-Time PCR kit).
Manual master mix preparation
If users prefer to prepare the Master Mix solution manually (19 µL Super Mix + 1 µL Enzyme Mix), the EzMate 601s system can process up to 75 reactions per run (equivalent to 3 sample plates of a Real-Time RT-PCR kit).
